Don't overlook the visual power of adding window treatments to your home. Window treatments can easily transform how your home looks and feels. Window treatments should not be an afterthought as they can positively change the overall look and feel of your home. When it comes to window treatments, there are four primary styles to choose from.

1. Blinds

When it comes to window treatments, blinds are the most affordable. They are usually made from a rigid material, such as metal, wood, or plastic. Blinds are arranged in a series of slats. You can open and close the slats to bring in some light while enjoying some privacy. You can also use a string on the side of the blinds to raise or lower the blinds. There are also electrical blinds that allow you to use a controller to raise and lower them, getting rid of the string. Blinds are one of the most affordable window treatments.

2. Shutters

Another window treatment option is shutters. Shutters are a more expensive window treatment option. They are usually made from custom wood. Some shutters are hung outside the window, but other shutters are hung inside of your home.

With shutters, you can purchase ones that allow you to move the shutters' top and bottom independently. Shutters have a very classic look and look good in homes with a more classic style.

3. Shades

Shades fall in the middle price-wise. Shades are considered soft window treatments because they are made from fabric. With shades, you can't adjust the individual slats to allow in light. Light may filter in through the shades, depending on the level of opacity.

There are three styles of shades. Roman shades are designed to fold over each other in a cascading manner. Honeycomb blinds are made of pleated chambers. The pleated chambers are designed to trap air and help with insulation. Roller shades pull down from inside a valance tube.

4. Curtains

Finally, there are curtains. Curtains don't hang inside the window frame as shades and blinds can; instead, curtains hang in front of your window. There are many varieties of curtains when it comes to types of fabric and patterns, with a wide range of prices.

Think about what you need from your window treatment to decide what overarching style you want to use. If you want to improve your home's appearance inside and outside, you should consider adding window treatments. Window treatments come in all sorts of styles, such as blinds, curtains, shades, and shutters, and various price points, so there is no reason to have bare windows in your home.
